Weekend Wanderings
A couple of weekends ago, we got in our first camping trip of the season! After my husband and some friends ran in the Ragnar Trail Snowmass, we took off on some dirt roads outside of Carbondale, CO to find a camp spot for the evening. We found a beautiful site with a gorgeous view of Mount Sopris. The field was surrounded by Aspen trees and full of irises and other wild flowers. We did some camp fire cooking, enjoyed a few brews and took in a stunning sunset over the valley below.
The next morning, my husband and I were up early to enjoy the world’s best cup of coffee. In all reality, it was Starbucks Via Instant Coffee but with the earlier morning sun shining into our campsite, it was fantastic.
After breakfast, our crew headed off to the Thomas Lake trail-head for a hike.
Although we only saw a few other people up by the lake, we decided to do a little bushwhacking and find a quiet spot to ourselves. We enjoyed lunch in the idyllic location before hiking back down. Happy wanderings!
